New Painting WIP

I started this tonight, maybe say, four hours ago, including smoke breaks and tea breaks. ;P

That's where I am thus far....

Shameless Self-Promotion

Artist's statement:

I want my work to focus on the contours of the face and body, to leave the viewer leaning closer to view texture and vibrant colour. I've learned how composition can make or break a piece, how the lines and negative space can create a mood in itself. Faces are MOST intriguing--a simple angle of the camera or change in the viewer's perspective, and a person can look completely alien to their norm, becoming art. Human form is unique and beautiful, and should be closely celebrated. There is an intimate tie linking technical skill and passionate emotion in my work. If there is only ONE thing in this world that inspires me, something I understand completely, it is human emotion.

I work in basically any/every media, and enjoy experimentation. I'm experienced in everything from watercolours, oils, acrylics, pencil, airbrush, Photoshop, textiles, found objects, etc... I enjoy dabbing around anywhere and finding a way to make it work to your/my liking.

My first job ever was working as an airbrush artist for 3 years, where I learned a great deal about techniques, portraiture, networking, and sales. I have my own airbrush equipment now, and am constantly creating things on my own, and for those who purchase my work or want commissions done for them.

I attended the leading art college of Colorado, Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design, studying Illustration. I took what technical skills I learned there, and have grown most while I've been out of school in terms of my art. I enjoy fine art and illustration both, and am consistently learning new methods and finding endless inspiration on a daily basis from my mind's eye--the dreams I have, visions I see, and the music I thrive off. I'm a rather passionate and unique individual, here seeking other passionate individuals that I could potentially use in my artwork.

If you have any questions regarding, well, anything at all, shoot me an email! I'm a very humble being, just trying to make myself happy and create artwork to make you happy as well. I hope to bring to this culture, this society we live in, ideas and pieces that will open minds, and leave a legacy found in raw, real emotion.

Here are some examples of past works I've created:

I'm working on several pieces right now, too...some commissioned, and some for kicks. Let me know if you'd like any portraits done for you or someone you may know! I would also just appreciate you spreading kind word through the grapevine, allowing my existence as a growing artist to become more apparent to the public. Thank you!

Agyness Deyn is Haute

Hey boys and girls! Today we will be learning about an aesthetically-pleasing and fashionable individual!

Agyness Deyn (born Laura Hollins on 16 February 1983) is an English fashion model and singer. Deyn has been hailed as "the fashion industry's next great supermodel", and I'll explain my personal reasoning for this famed title.

This chick embodies basically everything I dig about casual, day-to-day fashion, and still 'cleans up nice' for movie premiers, runway shows, etc. Plus, she has a super cute and angular face that can wear tons of makeup, without looking like a clown or working girl. I admire most the fact that she usually wears little to NO makeup. Real, true blue beauty! Whether she's sporting radical band tees, tie-dye, blazers with shoulder pads, leggings, overalls, or oversized sweaters, this girl's pretty damn rock n roll. Agyness seems to keep it SIMPLE, but adds a bit of bling, spikes, or luxurious fabrics to spice up a casual outfit. With tastes from the 60, 70s, and some 80s punk rock, I totally dig her. Plus, she's got that quality I look for in my muses for my art--she's capable of being very androgynus and feminine all at once. Call her a hipster, or whatever you want, but I see some originality and humility in her style. Check it out:

First Post, Fairly Boring.

So, this is my first ever post in a blog. (Other than silly ol' Myspace.) I guess this means I have to explain my daily life to strangers, or something....or maybe I'll just distract you all with obscure photo postings when I have nothing important or interesting to say... ;P

Today was a great, but long day. I couldn't sleep again last night because of my job situation--I work from 8pm til 4am! Eeek. So, rather then sleeping, I popped an Adderall and began to make art. I've been up for maybe, eh, 26 hours? Not bad. It's been worse.

I'm grateful for meeting Natasha and actually getting a chance to hang out with her and her, without any drama to inhibit us caused by pink-haired scene girls. We watched some fashion design show on Bravo and talked about how people suck, mostly. It was radical. Her cat is the most adorably odd looking creature I've ever seen, I wanted to steal him ;P Next Sunday we're planning on making art again/taking sweet photos. I need to borrow her for painting references, too.

Tomorrow I get to see Dmitry (the boyfriend) FINALLY! Since I moved out of his apartment a month or so ago, (for reasons I shall not share publicly), we haven't been able to spend much time together.... It will be refreshing to be with him. I'm stoked!
